I joined the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research as a Research Associate in 2013. I am cross-appointed to the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Human Sciences. I completed my PhD in Health Studies and Gerontology (Aging, Health and Well Being Program) at the School of Public Health and Health Systems, at the University of Waterloo. I hold an MA from Simon Fraser University (Gerontology), a BA from Laurentian University (Gerontology), and a BA from the University of Windsor (Psychology).

I am a health services researcher trained primarily in quantitative techniques. My program of research covers the fields of aging and mental health, with a focus on risk assessment, suicide prevention, health outcomes, integrated models of health care, and health service utilization. My research incorporates clinical and administrative data that aid in providing decision support for clinicians, administrators and policy makers regarding health in rural and northern communities.

Prior to joining CRaNHR, I was a research consultant for the Toronto Central CCAC, the Canadian Mental Health Association-Grand River Branch, and the Homewood Research Institute. I am also an adjunct lecturer in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. I am a member of the interRAI Network of Canada and the interRAI Network for Excellence in Mental Health (iNEMH).
