An Evaluation of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Telehealth Network:
An Update of the Economic Model
J.C. Hogenbirk, R.W. Pong, M.G. Delmege, and V.G. Guérin

This project updated the economic model that was developed as part of an earlier evaluation of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Telehealth /NORTH Network Expansion Project. The original model used utilization numbers based on 9 of 24 First Nations communities for the 2005 calendar year. The use in these 9 communities was projected across all 24 communities so as to estimate the potential cost-savings. The revised model used data collected in fiscal year 2006/2007 for all 24 communities. The update provided partial validation of estimated utilization and cost-aversion values that were estimated in the earlier model. The up-dated model was also a necessary precursor to the redesign of the model that is described in a separate project.
