The Rural Health Workforce in Canada
Dr. Raymond W. Pong, Research Director of CRaNHR, was invited by the Cahiers de sociologie et de démographie médicales to guest-edit a special issue of the Cahier that was devoted to examining the "Rural Health Workforce in Canada." The Cahiers de sociologie et de démographie médicales is an international journal with a focus on medical and health manpower issues and is published by the Centre de Sociologie et de Démographie Médicales in Paris, France.
The special issue of the Cahiers contained six peer-reviewed papers authored by prominent researchers. These papers covered topics ranging from rural medical training in Canada to the rural mental health human resources deficit. Published in late 2007, this special issue allowed Canadian researchers to share their findings and ideas about the Canadian rural health workforce with a large international audience.
